Today’s challenges to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 push us to rethink policies, decision-making processes and management models for environmental, social, economic and cultural resources. In this context, the scientific debate highlights interest in the implementation of technological innovation, the contribution of business in developing countries and raising awareness of the SDGs. The main difficulties in the implementation of these topics are encountered in particular in countries, such as Mongolia, often characterised by fragile ecosystems and fewer resources to balance economic development and environmental protection. The international research and cooperation project “The 3Rs for a sustainable use of natural resources in Ulaan Bator – 3R4UB” is an opportunity to explore the synergies between waste management planning, civic engagement, stakeholder consultations and the adoption of green financing models. The international research team aims to develop an innovative method that aims not only to encourage the adoption of sustainable behaviour, such as recycling and upcycling, but above all to promote cooperation between citizens and stakeholders to strengthen the community fabric and foster social resilience.
