Mission

The CNR DSU develops interdisciplinary research in the Humanities and Social Sciences to promote technological and social innovation and contribute to effective policies, collaborating with productive sectors and national and international institutions.

The Department of Social sciences and humanities, cultural heritage (DSU) of the CNR advances fundamental and applied research in the field of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Cultural Heritage (SSH/CH) through an interdisciplinary approach aimed at the advancement of knowledge, social and technological innovation, and contributing to policy formulation.

The DSU positions itself as a benchmark for scientific excellence and advanced training in its areas of expertise, supporting the country’s economic growth and balanced social development. Research activities, technology transfer, and dissemination are pursued in close collaboration with the productive system, social components, and government institutions at all levels.
