Terms and Conditions for Using Social Media

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Cultural Heritage (DSU) of the National Research Council (CNR) uses the following social media platforms to communicate with citizens and institutions through the Internet:

This document outlines the guidelines for the use of social media, in compliance with the CNR regulations, administrative provisions, and legal norms.

Content

The DSU social channels of the CNR are used to highlight research activities, inform the public about institutional and scientific initiatives, and promote events aimed at citizens and institutions.

The content published includes texts, photographs, infographics, videos, and other multimedia materials that can be freely reproduced, provided the source is always acknowledged, and credit is attributed to the original channel of reference.

Comments and posts by users, who are encouraged to present themselves with their first and last name, represent the opinions of individuals and not those of the Department, which cannot be held responsible for third-party posts on its social media channels.

Moderation Rules

The DSU of the CNR encourages polite, relevant, and respectful conversations. On the DSU’s social channels, everyone is welcome to share their opinions, provided they adhere to basic rules of civility and mutual respect.

Comments and posts that violate the conditions set out in this document will be moderated, including preemptively, and promptly removed. Insults, vulgar language, threats, or actions that harm the dignity of individuals, the decorum of institutions, the rights of minorities and children, or the principles of freedom and equality will not be tolerated. Specifically, the following are prohibited:

  • Content that promotes, endorses, or perpetuates discrimination based on gender, race, language, religion, political opinions, beliefs, age, marital status, nationality, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation.
  • Content of a sexual nature or links to such material.
  • Commercial promotions.
  • Encouragement or support of illegal activities.
  • Information that could compromise security.
  • Content that violates the legal rights or interests of third parties.
  • Comments or posts containing sensitive data in violation of privacy regulations.

Additionally, the following are discouraged and subject to moderation:

  • Comments irrelevant to the topic of the post (off-topic).
  • Remarks supporting or opposing political campaigns or voting endorsements.
  • Offensive language or content.
  • Comments or posts intended to disrupt discussions or offend social media moderators.
  • Spam or repeated interventions.

The DSU of the CNR reserves the right to remove any content deemed in violation of this social media policy or applicable laws. In cases of violations, the DSU reserves the right to block the user, report them to the platform administrators, and, if necessary, notify the appropriate authorities.

Privacy

The processing of users’ personal data complies with the policies in place on the platforms used (Facebook, LinkedIn, and X). Sensitive data published in comments or public posts on the DSU’s social channels will be removed. Data shared by users via private messages will be processed in accordance with Italian privacy laws.
