Chiara Fante – ricercatrice CNR ITD

April 2nd marks World Autism Awareness Day, celebrated globally to raise understanding and support for individuals on the autism spectrum. On this occasion, the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, Cultural Heritage (DSU) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) launches its monthly feature dedicated to interviews and insights on research in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and cultural heritage.

The first edition features Chiara Fante, PhD in Clinical Psychology, psychotherapist, and researcher at the Institute for Educational Technology (ITD) in Genoa. She shares key findings and reflections from the research project “Parental Quality of Life and Involvement in Interventions for Children or Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders.”
The study stems from a collaboration between the Fondazione Bambini e Autismo Onlus (project lead: Dr. Cinza Raffin) and the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Industries at the University of Parma (project lead: Prof. Alessandro Musetti), with contributions from Chiara Fante (CNR ITD).

The video focuses on the lived experiences of parents as they navigate the daily challenges that come with raising a child on the spectrum — from the initial diagnosis and bureaucratic hurdles to school dynamics and social relationships. This narrative highlights the importance of awareness and shared experience as essential tools for fostering inclusion and understanding within society.

Video editing: Valeria Piras, technologist (CNR ITD).
