Objectives

The course introduces participants to the input-output methodology for calculating direct and indirect economic, social and environmental impacts. The course is organized by the CNR-Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, Cultural Heritage.

This methodology can contribute to: (i) the analysis of demand changes such as changes in tourist consumption, (ii) the analysis of external shocks such as the one created by COVID-19 and (iii) report the impacts of the funding received from national and international institutions. In the first part of the course, participants will be introduced to the theoretical concepts of input-product analysis with practical cases. In the second part, participants will be using the Smart TIO application, to perform calculations with the input-product model in a simple and intuitive way.

Session 1 at 14.00 (CET) Duration: 1.45 hours

  • What is input-output analysis?
  • Why indirect effects are important?
  • Explanation of the input-output model
  • Example of the input-ouput model

Session 2 at 16.00 (CET) Duration: 2 hours

  • Introduction to Smart TIO
  • Practical case 1: direct and indirect impacts calculated typing the numbers in the screen.
  • How can we export results?
  • Practical case 2: Impact calculations importing data in csv format.
